Even from the beginning, Albany has a diverse population. The first known settlers were dominated by Germans and Dutch followed by the English at the start of the 19th century and Italians in late 1800’s. The world is experiencing the worst measles outbreak in decades and even the World Health Organization is alarmed with the increasing incidents globally. Some may think that measles is only a problem of developing countries and America is free from such health concerns. But with New York registering the same problem, lawmakers have stepped up in the situation. Several reasons exist on why parents refuse vaccination for their children. USS SLATER in Albany, New York

If you have seen museums housed in century old buildings, the USS Slater is a different type. It is a ship found on Hudson River and the only afloat museum in the US. It is a Cannon-class destroyer escort and named after Frank Slater, the sailor who died during the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. A few hours of visit in the ship can bring you back in time.
